Never had heard of the Stonewall Jackson Institute before.

A letter asking for a reference to get a teaching job at the :

Stonewall Jackson Institute (a Presbyterian school for women), Abingdon, WASHINGTON Co., VA, USA. It was said to be “most admirably managed under the presidency of Mr. T. D. Davidson, and deserves a much more liberal patronage than it is receiving.”
