Unfortunately, it appears that the most critical ground of Coster's position at the brick yard, has not been preserved at Gettysburg. As you may know, Coster's men made a heroic attempt to provide one last stand during the collapse of the Eleventh Corps. The brigade fell apart when it's right flank regiment, the 134th NY was flanked by Colonel Avery's confederate brigade in the area of Steven's Creek. The ground where the 134th NY fought appears to be private. So I took the chance and walked around the fence to stand on that sacred ground where many of the 134th gave their lives.
The tree line that I am facing is along Steven's Creek. Avery's men probably crossed the creek to make their flank attack.
Most maps show the 134th NY refused its line to face the flanking Confederates, as this one does.
