Food historians write that the Scarlett O' Hara Cocktail was either created for the opening of "Gone With The Wind" in 1939 or by Ocean Spray in the 1950s to promote their cranberry juice. Whatever the origin it has been popular for years.

Southern Comfort has also always listed it in their drink recipes.

Recipe for the Scarlett O' Hara:

3 ounces Southern Comfort
1 1/2 cup cranberry juice
1 1/2 tablespoons lime juice
1 cup cracked ice
1/2 peeled peach

In covered container, blend all ingredients except peach at high speed until frothy. Strain into cocktail glass over 1/4 peach.

The perfect drink for the Southern Belle. Also a special Cranberry Drink to have at Thanksgiving.

Drink recipe from "The Waring Blender Cookbook".

The old cocktails are making a comeback. Last night we went to a new favorite restaurant of ours, Table 13 in Addison. The theme is 60’s Rat Pack, wonderful live music and decor and many of the classic 50’s - 60’s entrees. A lotta grey heads there but younger folks as well. The place also features the classic cocktails of the era. I ordered an Old Fashioned to begin and the waiter, who was about 30 or so, said it is now becoming a fav drink in the bars in Uptown Dallas, the young singles’ playground here.
