Thank you so much for this thread. My son and I visited Fredericksburg, Antietam, Chancellorsville and other near-by civil war related places last month and I fell in love with the region.
Here is my tiny contribution to the Kernstown site.
1. I learn a lot from signages, especially if you only have a few minutes to do a “drive-by”. After I read the signage below, I wondered about Mulligan’s Illinois Irish Brigade. I had photographed a series while at Antietam, and posted one on the Memorial to the Irish Brigade of New York and Mass. After researching, I learned that the New York Irish Brigade and Mulligan’s Chicago Brigade were two separate ones. If anyone knows of a book on the Illinios Irish Brigade, would appreciate.
