The flag proposals of "West" (1861)

This is a poster of the different Confederate national flag proposals by someone known only as "West", "West" made 10 or 11 different national flag proposals which he/she submitted to the Confederate Congress' Committee on Flag and Seal during the search for the First National flag during early 1861, a number of his submissions were simply variants on his other submissions.

This includes the "rayos y soles de Bolívar" and the Narciso López/ Mississippi Governor Quitman Cuban fillibuster flag--laden with freemasonic iconography including the red triange--which became the national flag, the reversal of the Chilean flag's colors by the "Padre de la Patria" Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, etc.

The 1810 West Florida lone star turns yellow and becomes the first flag of the Lone Star Republic, before re-issue as the "bonnie blue flag."

The flags with the crescent go relatively quickly from South Carolina to items one might expect from the Khedive of Egypt, the Turkish Sudan, the Barbary States, or some similar Islamic flag!
