In the book The First Blood by Swanberg, he states that the cost of preparing for war was $20,000 per day or more then seven miollon a year. With shipping and businesses in Charleston languoishing because of the crisis, there was incredible pressure on Gov. Pickens to end it.. Im wondering if any of our members have any figures or sources for things related to this... The one sourced in the book is The Private Journal of Henry William Ravenel, but can't seem to find a copy of it that I can use..
