Darned if they just recently thought they had found the wreck of the last slave ship that got past the U.S. Navy* in 1860, the Clotilda:

But they'll keep looking. No slave ship verified to have brought slaves to the U.S. has ever been found. Of course any ship that brought African slaves in after 1808 was doing so illegally, against Federal Law.

* or was it actually the U.S. Revenue Cutter service (which much later became the U.S. Coast Guard)?. Anyone knowing the history of that is invited to clarify

Either, or both. The Navy patrolled along the coast of Africa; for example USS Constellation on an 1859 cruise captured three slave ships and freed 705 slaves. Closer to home the revenue cutters would be the main concern.

Fun fact, our Revenue Cutter Service never used actual cutters!
