The Burning of the Steamboat Mazeppa - Stuart Sanders

This sounds like an exciting book. I have been reading the assault of Nashville by Hood's troops recently in the Official Records. I was surprised by the numbers of skiffs and canoes and barges used by Lyon's confederate raid near Cumberland City, and the amount of river traffic sent by General Thomas and S. P. Lee to Clarksville and Richmond City on the Cumberland River. This is occurring about December 7th, 1864, so maybe two weeks after Forrest captures Mazeppa. The official records made mention of a couple of Union barges captured somewhere and used by Lyon's force, then burned after crossing. Even the accounts on record are exciting, and it would be a pleasure to read a fully researched chronicle detailing these exploits.
Lubliner.
