I am not really sure what position on the crew that the gentleman under the limber fills, but if he is looking for cover; he has forty to fifty rounds of ammunition about a foot above his head.

I'm curious as to why two of the men are wearing bayonets and cap pouches if they're in the artillery. Sentry duty, perhaps?
Well they are heavy artillery and heavy artillery usually fought as infantry as well, so they were also equipped with muskets and bayonets.
