Hi all,
Just signed up today. Interested in swords. Found a few here in Alabama and wonder how I go about getting some info/opinions on one. I know I will enjoy reading on the site. My wife had a relative with the 15th Alabama,Co G. View attachment 310955View attachment 310956
Hello @Pecan Pete and welcome to Civil War Talk - the best place on the internet for Civil War discussion. While I can't help with information about your saber, I can page some folks who may be able to to @Richard E. Schenk @Glen_C @ucvrelics James N. there's a bunch more "Sword guys" as well. One or more of them will be along to weigh in on yours. Again, welcome to Civil War Talk. Happy you decided to join us.
Sadly, just from looking at no more of the piece than shown in the photos, I can tell that it falls into the second category of what my late sword collecting mentor Robert Justice called FAKES and BLATANT FAKES. Welcome to the forums anyway, and better luck next time!
