My family and I spent much of yesterday in Lexington, Virginia, checking out the Lee Chapel at Washington and Lee University, as well as other historical places in the pretty little town. I spent sometimes prowling around the cemetery where Stonewall Jackson is buried, and look who I found!

I was there a long time ago, toured his house there. We stayed at a lovely bread and breakfast by the name of Steeles Tavern Manor, a few miles north of Lexington. It is a very nice town.

It would be very nice if some group would pay to clean that statue to such a noble general.

I didn't get a Stonewall selfie but do have some of a Winn relative's family plot and me (she was married to one of the town founders, a locally famous guy). They're not far from the Jackson family plot where Stonewall was originally buried. Lots of interesting stones in the cemetery and some other famous CW folk. I spent at least an hour there.

IMG_5435.JPG This sign was posted at one of the entrances to the cemetery. It made me laugh--it was an old cemetery with DOZENS of big trees!
