Welcome, enjoy
Hello, and greetings from southern Vermont. Moved here 20 years ago from outside Philadelphia, where I grew up.
I have recently become very interested in the Civil War, esp. the 6th PA Cavalry. My grandmother's grandfather was Col. C Ross Smith of the 6th PA. I have used his image as my avatar. I hope to contribute what I can, while learning so much. In my genealogical research, I have found 1 ancestor who died at City Point (with the 188th NY Infantry).
Yes - One and the same !Welcome! Was your relative the secretary of The Commercial Exchange in Philadelphia?

Thank you so much ! I posted a smaller obit below. My records show he is buried at Woodlands cemetery in West Phila. , not Laurel Hill (where my grandmother is buried). Image is attached..
