I found this recipe on an Heirloom Recipe site at http://www.softmemories.com/HeirloomRecipes/1800s.htm

For those of you who have snow, might be fun to make.

Snow Muffins

2 cups sifted cake and pastry flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup white or brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon or orange rind
1/2 cup clean white snow
1/2 cup raisins

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a depression in the centre and pour in the milk, butter and grated rind. Stir slightly. Add snow and raisins. Stir only until dry ingredients disappear. Spoon into 12 buttered muffin cups filling two thirds full. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Serve hot with butter or strawberry preserves.

This looks interesting! My sister in town will never be able to find clean white snow - not unless she can get up at 5am for it! But there's plenty here. :D

I don't know if we will ever get enough "clean" snow to try to make the muffins. I would like to make them. Maybe someone with fresh clean snow can try them and let us know how they taste.
