The last time I ate squirrel was over 20 years ago when my grandfather was still alive and hunted. It is a lost art. Squirrel is good when properly prepared. My grandmother made fried squirrel with squirrel gravy, mashed potatoes, and fresh vegetables out of her garden. I miss those good meals, and more so I miss my grandparents.

Only had squirrel once. Living in post housing Ft Benning in the mid 60s. Invited by playmate's family next door for dinner. A big pot of squirrel stew was served. Tasted OK. The father dished out a tiny skull and pointed out that the brains were the tastiest morsel.

Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe, squirrel. I hurt those little rascals every season but only kill them after the first frost. I usually after dressing them boil them in salt water for 10- 15 minutes or so let cool egg wash flour & seasoning either fry them in a cast iron pan. Enjoy.
