Siege at Vicksburg

Here is an animation of a chapter which covers the siege of Vicksburg. My relatives were in the 36th Georgia Regiment, company K. This is a basic overview of the siege. Most of these images where taken from the library of congress.

I've got to ask . . .
Is your avatar a rendition of the General Lloyd Tilghman monument within the Vicksburg National Military Park ?

Good eye. Yes it is. It is a drawing I made based on the General Tilghman Monument for my book.

Hats off. A great heritage by my standards. These were the men who did the fighting.

Thank you. Yes there were many men like my relatives who did the fighting and dying. Many years later Daniel's 2nd great grandson Hugh Minor (my grandfather) continued that heritage and gave his life during WW2. Even today there are young men/women out there following their heritage, fighting and dying for their country. My hat is off to them also.

Very cool! I've never seen an animation of the CW before...Thanks! I mean, the way YOU presented it...well done!

This new section follows the 36th Georgia Infantry Regiment after the surrender at Vicksburg. They march from Vicksburg 150 miles to Enterprise, Mississippi and then travel via train, back to Atlanta Georgia. During this period, my 3rd great uncle Napoleon Landers dies of his illness while being transported on a steamship.
