Hey civil war buffs,

I inherited a 1863 sharps carbine. Mine was modified after the war to take the 50/70 government. It’s been I a closet for 50y

I’m still researching it. There is a 21 stamped on the stock. I find this interesting and wonder where 1-20 are. Anyone ever see one numbered like this?

snC9091. Check out how some time ago someone replace the barrel band with one from a Springfield musket to add a strap.

Any insight would be great. My ancestor was in the 3rd Tennessee Union Cavalry. There is no real chance this was his, he was captured. But anyone know it the 3rd had Sharps?

Nice Sharps. Its not listed in the SRS so the unit of issue is lost to time. As far as the 21 goes its a post war rack number that was used more or less as an inventory number in a unit armory.
