Those of you who know me know that I don't particularly like blowing my own horn. I don't particularly enjoy it and am uncomfortable with the idea of it--I generally prefer to allow my work to speak for itself.

However, I was specifically asked to do this, and I agreed.

In 2014, I began a series of blog posts at Emerging Civil War on how changes in technology drove the evolution of cavalry tactics in the Civil War. The first three installments went up in 2014. I wrote part four but never submitted it for some reason, and then I got distracted by one or the other of my too many book projects, and forgot about the thing. Several weeks ago, I found part four on my computer and decided to finish the series.

Parts four, five and six have now been run. Part seven will appear next week. I just submitted part eight, which is the conclusion. Since I was asked to do so, here are the links to the six parts that have already run. I will provide the last two links once they run.

I enjoyed writing this series and hope that you find it useful and educational. Enjoy!
