School of the Pioneer/ Engineer Knoxville, TN

The US Engineer Bn (Companies A, B and C) along with the 1st NY Vol. Engineers Co. F, Northeast Topographical Engineers and the US Coastal Survey Mapping Detachment will be hosting a School of the Pioneer/ Engineer for soldiers wishing to learn the basic period techniques used by the soldiers of the Pioneer Brigade or Engineer units. We will have 8- 1 hour long courses in sketch mapping/ land navigation, lifting engines, basic trestle bridging, corduroy roads, tree felling with axes, two man cross cut sawing, tool maintenance, as well as an introduction to some of the basic tools for the Pioneer or Engineer unit's kit.

The school is in Knoxville, TN on July 29,30,31 of 2016. Cost is $25 per soldier to cover meals. Trainees will receive their crossed axes upon completion on Sunday. Attendance is limited to the first 50 soldiers.

Unfortunately, due to budgetary and registration concerns, the school in Tennessee is cancelled for this year. At this time we are looking into relocating the school to the Western NY area. Please stay tuned for more information.
