True unless it was held in a specific, well known collection.I highly doubt any provenance on a US coin is possible. As mentioned you might want to check ebay for approx. going prices or if you have a local coin shop.

Yes, you will note a number of my posts to that thread. I still wonder if it's a medal that was part of the series I referenced on CCF. In any case, it's best to understand the design diagnostics so that a costly mistake can be avoided. No one should buy an example of the piece posted above thinking they have a genuine coin!Perhaps some useful information here:
