What about the starred carbines? Between 1880 and1883, 22,300 rifles and carbines under serial number 50,000 were factory overhauled and reissued to national guard and militia. At that point many weapons had been recovered from the native americans. Wouldn't many of the Custer period carbines now be starred models 1884s?
