To commemorate the 156th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Blakeley, Historic Blakeley State Park will host a special day of living history and educational programming on Saturday, April 10th capped off by one of the largest reenactments of the battle in several years!

If indeed that event is going off as scheduled, I am glad to hear that. I have yet to visit there but it is definitely on the list.

Fort Blakely is the Mecca of events for the Campaigner crowd, and it's going to happen. In other words strict guidelines on uniforms and accoutrements to what has been documented used there.

The dedicated crew who runs it has done a stellar job of restoring the earthworks of the Confederate line and they get to reenact in them. If only we could have such things at places like Vicksburg.

I'll see what I can do, I'm sure someone will be taking pics but phones are strict taboo at these kinds of events.

Good way to get the extreme over-the-top diehards to get all red faced and and screaming about how you ruined the entire event for them.:D

I've seen those guys ballistic throwing temper tantrums how they'll never get to see what the CW was really like at an event over such things. Never mind no one is between the heights of 5'6 and 6'1 weighing in around 80 to 110 lbs. Or that everyone has most or all their teeth. Or that they ain't covered in lice and fleas and have been for months, or smell like they've been marching day and night for ages.

Those over-the-top hard core guys have about killed the notion of an event like Fort Blakely to me.

I understand fully.
That's why....
Sneak (verb) - move or go in a furtive or stealthy manner.

If he can sneak a phone in to take pictures I'd like to see them. Some units in that wing have you empty your pockets and haversacks to make sure you don't sneak anything modern, and if pictures show up on the net taken by someone they get nutty once their done admiring the pictures. I've seen talk on FB of a big crackdown on phones and cameras...

In case no one can sneak in and sneak pictures, here's an old thread chuck full of pictures from the last one:

You sound like you've never actually been to a quality event. You should try it some time.
