The Medical History Of The Confederate States Army And Navy ...
COMPRISING THE Official Report of Surgeon Joseph Jones, M. D, LL. D, Surgeon General of the United Confederate Veterans; a Report of the Proceedings of the Reunion of the Survivors of the Medical Corps of the Confederate States Army and Navy, July 2, 1892, at N. B. Forrest Camp, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Address of Surgeon-General Jones, with Statistics of the Armies of Mississippi and Tennessee, 1861-'5, and Results of Great Battles, and Official Correspondence of Dr. Jones as to the Forces and Losses of the Southern States, 1861-'5, with Reference to the Number and Condition of the Surviving Confederate Soldiers who were Disabled by the Wounds and Diseases Received in Defence of the Rights and Liberties of the Southern States.
[excerpt]
Of the once proud Army of Tennessee, less than twenty thousand foot-sore, shoeless, ragged soldiers escaped with Hood's advance into Tennessee; at the same time a large army (in numbers at least) of sick, wounded and convalescents crowded the general hospitals in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

I wonder if the archivist/historian for the State may have that information?

I found interesting book on sites in Georgia. It is "Crossroads of Conflict: A Guide to Civil War Sites in Georgia" by Barry L. Brown and Gordon R. Elwell. Amazon has it . It documents hundreds of locations, including major and minor battlefields, POW camps, hospitals, houses, buildings, bridges, cemeteries, and monuments. It states it provides detailed history of those listed and the area. This might have Ray Hospital.

Even if doesn't have this particular hospital, sounds like a good book to have, especially for those living in Georgia.

Good find Donna. I have not been able to find anything on a Ray Hospital in Atlanta, so far. I have found that many hotels, warehouses, etc., were used as hospitals, and, that hospitals in the Atlanta area had to be moved frequently. Atlanta was an important medical center.
Pursuant to act of Sept. 27, 1862 -
Fair Ground Hospital No. 1 received Tennessee troops
Fair Ground Hospital No. 2 those from Mississippi
Medical Center College soldiers from Alabama
Gate City Hospital those from Kentucky and Florida
Empire Hospital those from Georgia and the Carolinas

According to write up on the book I gave reference to in my previous post: "The impact of the Civil War on Georgia was greater than any other event in the state's history. Approximately eleven thousand Georgians were killed and the state suffered more than one hundred thousand in total casualties." They would have needed hospitals everywhere. So I imagine Ray Hospital was one of these but not mentioned in many written works.

If it was a hospital, it probably wasn't a hospital, before or after the war. Confederate hospitals in Georgia were in any large building, be it a mansion, a school, a municipal building, even a fairground in Atlanta, Georgia.
Found no Ray Hospital, but there was a Roy Hospital in Atlanta, with a surgeon by the name of Roy.

"Construction of a big hospital complex on the city fairgrounds[FAIRGROUNDS] eventually relieved the crowding of sick and wounded soldiers downtown."

In response to your post above, since his name is missing in the historical record cited here, I am taking the liberty of adding the name of my gg grandfather, Dr. William Cordwell Cross, who succeeded Dr. Gore as the Head Surgeon for the Bragg Hospital in Newnan, GA.

I have also added the names of the Assistant Surgeons as identified in "Kate: The Diary of a Confederate Nurse" by Kate Cumming, page 239.

Here is a link that will take you directly to the page where she identifies my gg grandfather, along with the Assistant Surgeons serving at the Bragg Hospital, Newnan GA. The cite is page 239 in case the link does not work.
