While at the Alabama Gun Collector Association show this past weekend, this was brought to my table. Its is a very rare haversack from the 9th Reg AVC. For its age its in pretty good condition and has all the tell tell signs with the stitching, markings etc. I have it on hold for a few days, Paging @Package4 I tried to get the best close up shots of the fabric, stitching etc.

This is stunning. Love it!
Question:
Can it be reasonably inferred that if the 9th Alabama was "AVC" then any preceeding Alabama volunteer regiment was also part of the AVC, and consequently would have had AVC buttons and similar issues of gear prior to receiving issues from the Richmond Depot?

Yea, as when the war started The Southern States were ask to raise 10,000 troops each. The Great State of Alabama raised the AVC which was 10 regiments of 1,000 troops each. They were numbered 1 - 10 and all went to the ANV.
