This is a 22 minute documentary from 1941, showing the development of American railroads, and their importance in America's growth into "the arsenal of democracy." It contains quite a bit of nice stock footage of trains and rail operations late in the Age of Steam. (It also includes a brief segment with costumed actors looking straight at the camera as they read their lines in the most awkward manner imaginable.)

I enjoyed that, particularly the opening scene, the sheer panic of going at the unimaginable speed of 20 mph and that chap swinging an axe with such gay abandon, okay, it’s probably not the most historically accurate story of the railroad that I’ve seen but it’s still very entertaining. Thank you for posting it.
