Quickstep

Quickstep was a fast rate of march, usually dictated by the beat of martial music. This pace was about 110 steps per minute, during which soldiers covered about 80 to 90 yards.

From: "Webb Garrison's Civil War Dictionary" by Webb Garrison Sr. page 261.

Hm. Modern quick-time is 120 per minute; double-time is 180. I never personally experienced "march time" or whatever it might be called in d & c now, which logically should be 90 per minute.
