A friend of mine has a Confederate ancestor, Alfred B. Peticolas, who fought at the battle of Glorieta Pass. A Spencer carbine and Colt Dragoon revolver belonging to Peticolas has come down through the family. His specific question concerns the carbine and how Peticolas came to acquire it. Could he have been using it during the battle (as a previously acquired weapon from the Federals), or was it more likely collected on the field afterward from an opponent? Same with the revolver. Thanks.
