Port Gibson,golden hand

Just "skimmed" through your blog. I saw the part about you wanting to be able to fit in those blue pants for Aprils Re-enactment in Alabama. Any luck?
Five months later I'm just seeing your question. Sadly, I did not lose all the weight I'd hoped to, but I have worn the blue trousers--snugly. And thanks for 'skimming' through my blog. It's nice when someone mentions having visited it.

Thanx, is the public still allowed to climb it?
Yes it is. That's my truck below.

The kids were still still going up that tower (late night) a few years ago.

Not sure if the park is even open after sunset these days, but I got a kick out of seeing the remnants of a teenage party.

They never vandalized anything, and most of the beer cans were in the trash bins.

I had to smile.

Those kids reminded me of our group at that age.

:smoke:

At some point I hope to make a visit to Port Gibson. My GGGrandfather and avatar is buried there. Late in life he work at Vicksburg Battlefield and helped set up the proper placement of monuments. He died in 1920, if memory serves, and was still an employee of the Park. I have the death notice sent to the War Department notifying them of his passing.
