I haven't really said much in the food forum, but it is time we start following rules of copyright.

If you want to share a recipe from a modern book, you can not post the entire recipe, you may post a partial recipe and a proper citation for the book used. Including, title, author and page number.

If you want to share a recipe from a website, or blog. You can give a description of the recipe with a link to the website. This include recipes found on pinterest or facebook.

If these rules are not followed, it is stealing and CWT can be held accountable.

If you want to share a recipe of your own, or one that great grandma passed down, that is totally cool. Go for it!

If you want to share a recipe published before 1923 you may do so freely, but please still include a citation of the book it came from

As per copyright.gov
http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl122.html

Copyright law does not protect recipes that are mere listings of ingredients. Nor does it protect other mere listings of ingredients such as those found in formulas, compounds, or prescriptions. Copyright protection may, however, extend to substantial literary expression—a description, explanation, or illustration, for example—that accompanies a recipe or formula or to a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook.

Only original works of authorship are protected by copyright. “Original” means that an author produced a work by his or her own intellectual effort instead of copying it from an existing work.

Meaning the list of ingredients may be posted, however the directions for the recipe may not be copied and posted as that the authors expression.

Anything published before 1923 is still fair game under fairuse
Thank you @Allie for bring this to our attention.

Reminder. This applies to copywrited ebooks. You can not offer a complete download to a book that is copywritted by someone else. You may offer a link to where members may purchase it or download it. But that is it.
