The article is a little fast and loose with history in one or two spots ("In 1862, O'Sullivan famously photographed a group of some of the first slaves liberated after Lincoln issued his preliminary Emancipation Proclamation") but still pretty interesting. I wish there was more detail on how they know one of the boys in the photo is the same boy from the sale paper.
