I have been involved with a number of similar surveys at Shiloh and Corinth under the guidance of the NPS archaeologists from the Southeastern Archaeological Center (SEAC). Each artifact's position was logged using GPS and was later mapped out. It became possible to find individual firing lines by tracking different calibers of weapons. It was always an amazing experience.
