Park Day 2019 for the Shiloh National Military Park this year will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 8:30 am to remove trash and debris from the Civil War earthworks in Corinth. This is a necessary event and a great opportunity for those who have never visited this hidden gem of the park Service. Our @TomP and the staff at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center certainly could use our assistance and this is a wonderful opportunity to see the Corinth earthworks up close!!

Call 662-287-9273 to register in advance. Free t-shirts courtesy of the American Battlefield Trust will be provided to volunteers. We ask all volunteers to meet at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center at 8:30 am. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather. Gloves are recommended.
Regards
David

Volunteers Needed For American Battlefield Trust Park Day At Chickamauga Battlefield On April 6
Wednesday, March 20, 2019

The National Park Service will partner on Saturday, April 6, with the American Battlefield Trust, formerly the Civil War Trust, to conduct a hands-on preservation event to help Civil War, Revolutionary War, and War of 1812 battlefields and historic sites take on maintenance projects large and small. Volunteers across the country will answer their nation’s call to service as they provide assistance to these sites as part of Park Day, which will be celebrating its 23rd year with events in 32 states.

At Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, volunteers are needed to help paint cannon carriages throughout the park. Sign-up will start at 8:30 am in the lower parking lot of the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center. Come dressed for outdoor work and wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty and paint on. For safety reasons and due to the nature of the work, clothing should include long-sleeved shirts, long pants, tennis shoes or work boots. Gloves, brushes, paint, and other personal protective equipment will be provided.

For more information about Park Day at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, please contact Will Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator, (706) 866-9241 ext. 137; will_wilson@nps.gov).

Sounds like a chance for kids to experience volunteerism. Wonder if any schools plug in?

Will look into Gettysburg's, also sounds like another chance for a CWT meetup, with sweat.
