The gun on the right is my newest one, number 144 which turned up in CO about a month ago.

The gun on the left is number 305 which is identified to Pvt. John H Sams of the 3rd SC Cavalry and turned up in Florida in March of 2020.

Both guns are of the Columbus, Mississippi production of which only approximately 300 were made.

The book is from the library of my friend and mentor Ben Michel who passed away several years ago.

VERY FINE Looking Brace of L&R pistols. Would love to see some more photos. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Maybe you should polish them both bright so they have matching finishes. I suggest you soak them in vinegar for a couple of days.
DO NOT pickle the one with patina!!! I much prefer its' appearance over the one that has been polished (even though I prefer the provenance of the South Carolina example, as I had a G-G-Granpappy who served in the 7th SC Cavalry, and other relatives in other SC infantry units).
