A pair of Confederate altered m1840 muskets. The work was performed by P. Bouron & Sons of New Orleans in 1861. Between 100-200 were re-altered for percussion caps, from the Nippes-Maynard system. It's probably been a while since two were side by side.

Excellent info!
Is this hammer a standard US hammer of some sort? I know it is not the unusual style hammer used by Nippes on his conversion locks

Very Nice. P. Bouron & Sons had an interesting history. Ive seen seen several imported pistol with their name stamped on the top of the barrel. They also did work for the CS Naval station in NO.

Thank you for that information. I have not done a ton of research yet on the contract yet, but there also doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there on them.
