Day 2 of our trip we visited Laurel Grove (North) Cemetery, West Anderson St, Savannah. Unlike a lot of cemeteries this one is well signposted and points you in the direction of the most famous graves.
In the middle of Soldier's Circle stands a sculpture known as 'Silence' which was originally part of a Confederate memorial erected in Forsythe Park, Savannah. In 1878 the sculpture was relocated to the cemetery to mark the graves of soldiers killed in the Battle of Gettysburg.
Confederate Brigadier General Gilbert Moxley Sorrel.
Confederate Colonel Francis Stebbins Bartow
Phebe Pember, medical pioneer, author and Matron of Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond
Confederate Major General Lafayette McLaws
McLaws Camp
Bartow and McLaws monuments in Forsythe Park, Savannah
Sherman's HQ and Sorrel-Weed House both located in Madison Square
Finally, a visit to Savannah is not complete without a Riverboat pic
