Does anybody know why we see Custer, but not McClellan?!
And I would not have recognized Sherman, LOL, he looks like Napoleon with a full beard!
You think that's bad? Check out Phillip Sheridan in the bottom left hand corner.
Perhaps because McClellan turned Democrat and ran against Lincoln in 1864?
.
Interesting post, Mike.
Who is the fellow right below Sherman?
Alfred Terry.
Have no clue who this guy is. Learn something new every day!

He was a general in a lot of the out-of-the-way campaigns. He's probably better known as commander of one of the columns during the Little Big Horn campaign.
Though Terry wasnt a professional at the time.... allowed Grant to get rid of him and replace him with a professional soldier...
Congratulations KeyserSoze!Hey I got promoted! Captain now.
I wondered the same thing, but that's a plausible hypothesis. Any idea why we don't see a Heinztlemam or a Sigel?Perhaps because McClellan turned Democrat and ran against Lincoln in 1864?

This isn't really fair to Spoons. At times, he could be a good general, usually before the fighting started. He relied too much on intelligence and would end up reacting once battle started. But he was a capable administrator. If he'd been completely useless he'd have been sacked much sooner.Since this was obviously produced near or even after the war's end, Terry was then-popular as the commander of the amphibious expedition that finally succeeded in capturing Fort Fisher and completing the Union blockade of the Atlantic coast. Political General Ben Butler had originally been in command until he blundered the first assault against the stronghold; but now with the war almost over Lincoln finally allowed Grant to get rid of him and replace him with a professional soldier, something that should've been done years before!
