For the past nine years, the Westmoreland Library Network has worked to bring residents throughout the county together to read the same book and participate in an active discussion.
This year's offering for the One Book One Community History Book Discussion was “The Civil War in Pennsylvania: A Photographic History.”
Thomas W. Headley, retired executive director of Westmoreland Heritage, has been part of this program since its inception and facilitates many of the discussion groups about the book.
“The book was chosen because it's the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg this year. It's also an easier read and a topic that people are interested in,” Headley said.
The book is authored by Michael G. Kraus, David M. Neville and Kenneth C. Turner.
Kraus is curator of collections of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Pittsburgh.
