This is delicious gingerbread. It is from my Mother's collection. A friend of hers gave it to her many years ago.

1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs, well beaten
1/4 cup Crisco
1 cup sorghum
1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon ginger
2 1/2 cups plain flour

Sift flour and measure. Sift again with cloves, ginger and cinnamon. Cream Crisco and butter together and gradually add sugar. Add sorghum. Dissolve soda in boiling water and add to the sugar mixture. Add sifted ingredients to the mixture. Beat until smooth. Add eggs last. Pour into a greased pan and bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until done.
