My guess would be French from somewhere between 1815 and 1860. (or from a country that copied their style)

It is on a danish auction as "two military uniforms" with no information.
(the other uniform being a danish M/1889)

Hi Thomas,
It seems to be a fusion of two styles, the shorter turn backs, single button across lapel (much like the French Bardin pattern, which had started to trickle through by 1813 or so) and low collar would indicate a later period. However the very long/high cuffs would indicate a much earlier date as these were very fashionable upto the end of the 18thC. Sorry I couldn't be of much more help, Regards.

French or French influence. Can you get a close up of the buttons?

On this photo it could actually look like a danish M1855 but it is completely different below the waist and the cuffs.

I got no information on them. other then the description of "two military uniforms"

The other jacket look like a standard danish M1889, but with buttons from "academic riflecorp" a volunteer rifle corp based on Copenhagen university. (until after WWI when the volunteer corps where disbanded)
But they used Green uniforms, so the uniform and buttons do not belong together.

So It might be an (old) 20th century reproduction or other "fake" uniform.

It is at an auction house in the city I live in, so think I give them a call and ask if I can drop by and get a closer look.

Looks 1840's-1850's-ish to me in style, as far as being actually French I don't think so as it doesn't really resemble anything they wore a hundred percent, though it does look Napoleonic French inspired.

I'd say either some other country or a fake for plays/films. It's condition and construction make me lean towards film fake, especially looking at the tails.

EDIT: The cuffs also look suspicious in their construction along with the tails.

Danish army buttons from the mid 19th century are the same type.
(Original danish M/1855, stamped 1860 on the inside)

As Mentioned the top body look a lot like the danish M/1855.

(my reproduction... and yes, the careful observer will notice that the shoulder straps are the wrong shape... just like the 50 uniforms the Dybbøl Museum got and the uniforms of pretty much every "danish 1864" reenactore who got one)
