I'm trying to find out who this Union officer is. On the back of the cabinet cards it has in old period ink but is a little water stained, I ran it thru the presto changeo program and I see Lt A Conrad 4th regt Penn Reg Co. B. (for an old man thats blind in one eye and can't see out of the other and drinks ) Any help or input would be appreciated.

I believe the letter you are seeing as an "A" is actually the "t" on the abbreviation "Lieut" and that the inscription reads as follows:
Lieut Conrad
4 Res Penn Regt
Co B
The 4th Pennsylvania Reserves became the 33rd Pennsylvania Infantry. Company B was recruited in Philadelphia where the original image was taken.

Frederick A Conrad (2 May 1822 - 15 February 1893) enlisted and was mustered into service May 25, 1861. He was promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to Captain of Company B on June 21, 1861 and to Major of the regiment on July 21, 1863. He is buried at Arlington Cemetery, relocated from Congressional Cemetery, Washington, DC on 19 December 1906. Find A Grave Memorial

@ucvrelics now that the sun is out (kind of) can you take the image outside and get a close up of the first part of the name inscription in the sunlight? Straight from above, instead of at an oblique angle? The more I look at it, I'm thinking it just says F. A. Conrad? There is no other officer named Conrad in the 4th PA Reserves/33rd PA Vols so I'm sure Frederick A Conrad is the guy, Id just like to verify the inscription. Thanks.
