Mississippi is reportedly the only state which had a large number of men at Shiloh without a major monument on the battlefield. A new monument will commemorate the men of the 6th Miss. of Cleburne's Brigade. The unit suffered a 70% casualty rate in the battle. You can read more about it here:

The monument was funded largely by the State of Mississippi.

Great news, I had a great uncle in the 6th Mississippi.

Wow. When did he join the regiment?
I don’t know the exact date of enlistment but I do know it was early in the war and that he was the 1st Sergeant of Company B, 6th Mississippi. He was captured at the fall of Vicksburg. He came east with part the AOT in 1865 and his last battle was at Bentonville. He was paroled in April 1865. As far as I know he was never wounded.

That is incredible, given that unit's record for being in combat. Thanks for the response.
