Farmer, father of six and grandpa of four, with one on the way. Still reside on the family farm in Northwest Missouri. Have two Union ancestors, a GG Gpa who fought with the 34th Iowa Infty and a G Gpa who fought with the 102nd Ohio Infty, was captured and imprisoned at Cahaba and was one of the survivors of the Sultana disaster. Have several GG Gpas and GG Uncles who fought with the Confederacy, all from Virginia and North Carolina. So far have been unable to identify any family who fought with the famous Missouri Brigades. Have been reading on the War Between the States for many years and only recently found this website. Honestly, the main reason I joined was to reach out to @Booner after I read his introductory post. We appear to share a GGG Gpa.

I can make it a little better . One of my GG Gpas was in the 53rd Virginia Infty. His dates of service indicate he was with the regiment from 61 to 65, which would place them with Armistead's Brigade, Pickett's Div. at Gettysburg. The old boy survived the war, but I haven't found any personal stories yet. Another was with a Virginia Artillery battery. I think it was the 3rd, but would have to check back on it. He did not survive the war, but was able to impregnate my GG Gma before he departed, so that's good. At least, its good for me.

    Welcome!!!
Rest assured you have my undivided attention!
You're form N.W.Mo? How far from Helena? (just off hwy 169 by Rochester?)==Wait, I don't owe you any money, do I?

If we share a ggg gpa it;s either a Heath or Adcock. It can't be a Thompson: they never had any children that lived.

Hope to hear from you soon.

It sure is. Francis Asbury Heath of Company A, 3rd Ind Cav.
You must know Tommy & Mick Heath and Lisa and Cathy, Tommy and Lisa live in Helena, Mick lives in Rochester and Cathy outside of Savanna. They're my 2nd cousins. My grandma (their great aunt), was Lula Mae Heath. She and Grandpa lived in the white house next to the Methodist church in Helena. Grandma's father was George and his dad was Francis A., younger brother of your Benjamin. Was Benjamin ever in the army? If memory serves me he was born in 1820 something so he would have been near 40 years old at the outbreak of the war. Lisa gave me most of the Heath family history and I seem to remember her saying that the Heath boys drew straws about who would go into the army and who would stay home. And while Francis A. went into Company A, I believe he had two brothers who went into company C of the 3rd Ind cav. Also serving in company c was William Sheets, (my avatar), and Francis A. married her sister, so he's a shirt-tailed relative of yours, too.

I've got 5 generations of my family buried in and around Helena. I'm related to about everybody around there. I've got to believe we've met at some time.
