I think I'll pass on this one. From the linked article it sounds like alt-history with controversy in mind. And at the risk of being accused of xenophobia, Chenjerai Kumanyika is probably not the guy I wsnt to get my Civil War history from.
If it's presented in a way to show us how we got to this point today then I think it's valid.
If it's presented as "instrument history" then it might be questionable. Instrument history is history used as a tool (instrument) to repair today's problems.
