Actually it would be great if we could confine Fort Sumter to this forum, but I'm not all that hopeful. That genie always seems to find its way out of the bottle...

Well, we can move discussions and even start splitting discussions that go off topic into this forum. Just send me a PM or report a post when a thread goes off topic, or is started in the wrong forum, and I'll move it.

To All,

I had forgotten about this forum prepared by Mike about all things Ft. Sumter.

How about we continue our discussion on Ft. Sumter here for those who feel the need instead of retreating to far older, musty threads on the same topic?

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Mike/CivilWarTalk,

Might want to move all of the old posts on Fort Sumter here --they're lengthy, plus the stickies Ami put in new folders.

Which threads? Can you provide a link to get me looking in the right place?

I made it to Ft Sumter this past weekend. I had not read much about it other than it was opening of Civil War. Didn't realize the U.S. Navy had shot the hell out of it so much from 1862-65. It remained a manned U.S. Fortification until 1947.
