Is the "warranted"- etching/engraving something Horstmann did on their blades or is that personalized after the fact? Research is hard to find on that. Thanks if anyone can add some insight.

Both your Horstmann blades have the kingshead maker mark of Gerbruder Weyersberg of Soligen, Germany. They supplied many of the blades for Horstmann's officer swords, and likely did the etching for many of them also. The "Warranted" was likely done at the same time as the etching, and meant "warranted to cut steel" to make claims about the quality of the blade.
