I was so impressed with the Cemetery at Antietam. It was the first National cemetery we had visited and I was impressed with the care and attention paid to its construction. I was quite taken with the poem"The Bivouac of the Dead" which encircles the cemetery. (Of course, I started on the wrong side and read it backwards and then had to go back and read it again properly!) Such a peaceful and lovely resting spot for those men who died at that terrible battle.
