I had recently took a day trip to see Monocacy Battlefield. I must say it was a great to see another one off my list to see.
thanks i could have saw everything but the railroad junction. since they were working on the bridge in that areaNice photos, thanks for sharing, it's still on my must see list.
from south philly its like 2.5 hrs away. i was plan on going to another one that was near by to that one but ran out of time. i think it was called South MountainNice pics! I'll have to visit someday
thanks, thats is just some of what i had taken that day. there are alot of walking trails that you can take if your feeling brave lolI've no excuse for not seeing this battlefield - neither does my buddy, @Frums
I'll smoke him out and get there - thanks for the photographs!
i will do just that thank you for the infoIf you get to this one you should also drive (a half hour or so, maybe 45 min.) to Crampton's Gap. It is small so generally without crowds, and the view from the open fields on top of the Gap are great. You can see why the CSA, with a small force expecting to defend against light forces, were shocked to find the valley floor below lit up by the campfires of a very large force. When Lee received this news he ordered that the Gap be held at all costs, without regard for loss of life.
Nor do I, and it's only a short ride from here.I've no excuse for not seeing this battlefield - neither does my buddy, @Frums

Ok, yes, sounds like a good plan.Maybe we should organize a CWT "mini-muster" for those of us relatively close? We could bang it out in a day, including drive time.
Beautiful photos! What is the significance of the red house?
