Museum adds to story of Camp Lawton prison

" Officials also want to highlight some of the notable Lawton prisoners, including Boston Corbett, who was exchanged and credited with killing Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth, and Robert Knox Sneden, who made riveting illustrations of Confederate prisons where he was housed. "

Sneden's illustrations, opinion only, are some of the most fascinating to come out of the war. He catches details only an artist could and relates them in a way only a map maker could pull off. Just crazy good across the board. That he was at Andersonville turned into a piece of historical luck, if anything could have been said to have luck attached to the place.

This is just one of them, free to view at LoC because his work as map maker for the army made these public. His private work is available in the " Eye of " series, well worth it.
