Mrs. A.P. Hill (Kitty Morgan Hill ~ Dolly) Sister of John Hunt Morgan

She was very lovely. They say she was bitter after the war because of death of her husband and her bother, John Hunt Morgan.

She later married, to Dr. Forsyth. There is good bio on her at Civil War Women at:

She also has memorial on Find A Grave. She buried in Lexington Cemetery with the other Morgans.

Didn't she lose two brothers in the war? I thought one of John Hunt Morgan's brothers was also killed. And, she and A P Hill lost a child. People expected her to do a widow-of-the-Confederacy thing like some other wives of prominent dead generals, but she scoffed at it and caught a lot of criticism for remarrying and dissing the Cause.

Calvin Cogswell Morgan and Henrietta Hunt Morgan had eight children. They were:

John Hunt Morgan 1825-1864
Calvin C. Morgan 1827-1882
Catherine (Kitty) Morgan Hill Forsyth 1834-1920
Richard Curd Morgan 1836-1918
Carlton Hunt Morgan 1839-1912
Henrietta Morgan Duke 1840-1909
Thomas Hunt Morgan 1844-1863
Francis Key Morgan 1845-1878

Kitty lost her husband, and two brothers, John Hunt Morgan and Thomas Hunt Morgan during the War.

Thomas was killed at Lebanon, Ky. on July 5, 1863. A bit of trivia, John Hunt Morgan and Thomas Hunt Morgan are buried in same grave at Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Ky.

Thomas was barely 20 years old when he was killed. He was part of John Hunt Morgan's raiders. John always felt horrible over this. He was the young brother that he had promised his mother he would take care of.
