Perhaps the staff to the appropriate forum about monument removal.

Today the statue was taken down and there are no plans on where it will be relocated to.

From the second article:

The city of Lafayette, under the settlement announced Friday, will remove and transport the statue to a designation in the state indicated in writing by the United Daughters. The city will pay the United Daughters $20,000 toward designing and creating a base for the statue and $5,000 to insure the statue.

The United Daughters have 45 days to provide the city in writing with the new location for the statue, permission from the property owner where the city is to deposit the statue and a specific spot where the city is to offload the statue.

I'm glad the statue will be preserved.
