The designs were chosen by appointed committee members. IGWT is nice but will be challenged. Our original 1894 flag was not among the entries. Had it been a vote between the two, the magnolia flag would have been defeated. We were not given an honest choice.
There’s a large group of us here in Mississippi that are about to take on the unthinkable...we have started a citizen’s initiative, which will be approved by the Secretary of State here in the next few days. We feel like our voice was taken from us. Regardless if you like the design of the old flag, It was voted on. PERIOD.
Politicians all over the state turned a deaf ear to their constituents. So I’m turn, we are going to give the voters of Mississippi their voice back by gathering 106,000 signatures of REGISTERED VOTERS and if we get them fast enough then we will vote on 4 different flags (including the 1894 flag, Stennis flag, Bicentennial flag and the new magnolia flag) next year.
Yes, it’s going to be a lot of work but it’s time we stand up.
